How it works
To be eligible to receive the Heber J. Grant Scholarship, students must:
- Meet the
admission requirements and enroll in PathwayConnect - Complete an informational module. This will become available in your
student portal after you apply and are admitted to BYU-Pathway Worldwide.
Students will be awarded a tuition discount of 10, 25, or 50 percent off of their tuition balance. Individual award amounts are determined by need.
Your scholarship amount will be automatically applied to your tuition balance. You will continue to receive this discount every semester that you are enrolled in BYU-Pathway’s foundational PathwayConnect courses (typically 2–3 terms).

About Heber J. Grant
Heber J. Grant served as president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1918-1945, leading the Church through the difficult economic times of the Great Depression and World War II. Heber J. Grant was known for his persistence and tenacity, his love of learning, and his focus on self-reliance. BYU-Pathway students receiving this scholarship are encouraged to set goals to become better stewards of their talents and to cultivate the characteristics needed for continued success.

At this time, the scholarship does not apply to courses taken after PathwayConnect. However, BYU-Pathway is hoping that by 2023 it can make the scholarship available to students throughout their degree program.
- Returned Missionary Scholarship: Any student who has returned from a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the past 60 months is eligible for a
. (This includes missionaries who did not complete their entire mission.) This scholarship applies only to PathwayConnect courses.25% tuition discount - Needs-based Scholarship: Once enrolled, students can work with an assigned mentor, who will help determine if the student is eligible for a needs-based scholarship. (This scholarship is limited to one semester during the first year of enrollment.)
- Reduced Tuition: The price of tuition for students who start their degree through BYU-Pathway Worldwide’s PathwayConnect is significantly reduced. Reduced tuition is automatically given to every student who starts their degree through PathwayConnect — and you keep the lower cost for your entire degree program!
